We were the first and are the highest volume firefighting camera manufacturer, supplying TICs worldwide since 1984.

We started manufacturing electronic components over 50 years ago and have expanded to become one of the world's leading specialists in the design, development and manufacture of a wide range of imaging, microwave and power devices.

In the early 1970's, we were pioneers in the development of a new imaging sensor, the pyroelectric vidicon. This revolutionary sensor enabled the development of a compact, uncooled thermal imaging camera.

The experimental EEV camera received wide acclaim as a revolutionary concept in fire and rescue equipment. This was further developed to become the P4228, the world's first production model firefighters camera.

In the 1980's, following some tragic losses of ships by fire, US and world Navies embarked upon an acquisition programme to equip ships with "through smoke vision". More than 2500 P4428 cameras have been supplied to the US Navy and Coastguard, locally described as the Naval Firefighters Thermal Imager or NFTI (Nifty).

Most damage control lockers on board US Navy ships are equipped with a P4428. Within just a few years, we had manufactured and supplied thermal imaging cameras to most of the world's Navies.

Following on from success in the shipboard firefighting sector, we took a fresh look at the world's civil fire departments and organized a conference of end users. This promoted the development of Thermal Imaging for civilian fire and rescue services.

Designed exclusively for the firefighter, the Argus® represented the ultimate in rugged, usable, affordable and practical thermal imaging systems.

With over 10,000 cameras now in service we are justifiably proud of our position as the world leader in the field. With a track record second to none, the company has been honoured with prestigious Award's for both Technological Innovation and Export Achievement. Our most recent Award was announced in April 2000 for our enterprise achievements.

We are accredited to ISO9001 quality standards and hold ISO1401 for environmental polices and controls.

In August 1999, we launched the latest camera, the Argus®2. This utilises the proven ergonomics of the Argus® case and integrates the latest solid-state technology to give better picture quality with reduced weight. We have servicing, support and camera manufacturing facilities in Elmsford, New York and Chelmsford, England.
